Visit to the Metropolitan Museum
On Friday afternoon evening I managed to make my way over to the MET to see the familar European Painting Section and then capture, totally unawares, a Raphael show, based on work in the MET's own collection, that was a welcome surprise!
I also went to the Hatshepsut Show Hatshepsut: From Queen to Pharaoh for the 4th time and wrote about it earlier on another blog.
And in the European Section - everything seemed to look good in the light of early evening, even as it poured out - the Delacroix's, Manet's and Cezanne paintings looked even better than usual.
I may even make it over to the MET on Monday, thanks to Bloomberg (who's also the Mayor of New York), the Metropolitan Museum is open on Monday's (even July 3rd - which is close to July 4th - and you know what holiday that is for us here!).
