Marsha Wooley at the Prince Street Gallery – NYC

I stuck my head into the Prince Street Gallery tonight and enjoyed Marsha Wooley’s large desert landscapes.

The paintings kinda remind me of Corot; I spoke with the artist and hopefully will get to interview her, probably by mail, over the next week or two.

Here’s a couple of questions I asked Marsha.

Q. How long does it take you to do a typical painting? A. She said it took her about 80 hours or two full weeks.

Q. What kind of preperation to do you take in your outdoor sketches that lead to your paintings being the way they are?  A. Marsha improves on the sketches (that’s the way I remember it but she might have said it differently).

Q. These paintings look like they are of Utah?   A. Yes, thats’ where they were painted and Marsha Wooley lives and  teaches Art in Utah.
