Latest Nude Study
Well, here’s another nude study I did today, it’s the 4th I have done in the last month. Got kinda fed up – I did not have any acrylic medium left and found I could not manipulate the paint (which has been a problem even with the Acrylic Medium). Decided to just concentrate on structure and texture and forget about trying to capture the model’s features.
The less I try to paint what is in front of me the better the painting looks after I step away from the model.  I have a picture of this model but in a different pose; the model’s hair blends in with the background/curtain behind the couch she’s reclining on.
Was trying to use paint to support the model – ie: make brushwork that supports the arm of the model that supports her head.Â
I’m surprised that some people seem to like this work – I see so many shortcomings – but at least I’m being “me” – I am not copying anyone – what you see is what you get (but I hope you get more than you see).

Hello, Marshall, the concept of “less is more” works well in writing as it does in painting. If you can’t say it well in few words maybe the meaning was convoluted. It’s also like Seth Godin’s concept, “Little is Big,” as it refers to the business world. Maybe you do this when, “…the less I paint in front of me the better the painting looks…” You are becoming more you and I sense you are focusing more on what is central to your meaning. Thoughts?
