Been Busy at the EMetrics Summit – but I still think about Art
I have been so busy at the Emetrics Summit - where I’ve been blogging – (just got back last night).
There’s a lot of shows going on this week, even tonight. If I can, I’ll try to make the ACA Galleries tonight; have a friend to meet – maybe I’ll take them along.
There’s also a lot going on in Brooklyn this weekend -as I covered in my last few posts. You’ll see a lot more of my posts over the weekend.
One thing that really sank in to me this week at the EMetrics Summit in DC – a lot of people read WebMetricsGuru.com – but the person who comes up with the ideas – the vision – to “see” is the Artist – the Art. It’s the Art that makes Metrics real and actionable – it’s not just the left brain – its the right brain too.
Many of the C level executives I spoke with this week wanted high level metrics – but they also realized that it takes an Artist to present the numbers and precentages as a synthesis – to bring it all together. I’m not talking about layout design and powerpoint slides ….. I’m talking about the power of synthesis – to take all the stuff that is experienced and make it something someone wants to look at ….and understand.
Is it so different than say…..Cezanne … taking the landscape and unifying it with his pictorial language – and then you look at Mount Saint Victroire and say….I got it.  All the numbers, photos, graphic files, podcasts …everything – that’s collecting data ……but making someone understand … that’s ART.
