Studio View Painting – November 5th, 2006

I managed to get over to my studio space at Brooklyn Artists Gym and did a studio view sketch – it took 2 hours to do.  Felt like I needed to connect with myself – love the smell of oil paint – it puts me in a certain state.

And here’s the actual scene, below – as best as I could get it to the exact angle and position I sat at.

The position of my locker (where my coat is hanging with the red plaid scarf) was moved recently – it used to be in another part of the studio.  It was nice afternoon – I went to the East Village to see the last day of a show at PS122 and had Brunch nearby.

Also bought a new dinner jacket for Ad-Tech…..good luck…hopefully!

  1. No question with the angle but there’s something not so real with the way you have put volume or texture to the things in your room. They appear mushy, grainy and so unreal. Nevertheless, without the actual picture, things in your pictures are recognizable. Just a piece of advice – try to make a cleaner painting next time by removing a lot of brush or pencil strokes.
