Digital Cameras for the holidays
Inspired by a PC Mag article on the most innovative digital cameras   I looked at the ArtNewYorkCity Store to see how many of them are in the Amazon store – looks like most of them are.Â
I have become very aware of digital cameras, and the limitations of not having the right one, when your trying to get good shots. Tonight I was at Rockefeller Center and it was dusk, so I could not really get a good shot of many things. Also, the night before I was at the Magician’s Pub in Lower Manhattan and I was trying to take a decent picture of Jason Calacanis (Friday night with Jason Calacanis’s party at the Magician) – but I could not get anything much … it was too dark. Good pictures are great to have with to enhance blog posts….boy do I know it.
So PC Mag says Kodak EasyShare V610 6MP Digital Camera with 10x Dual-Lens Optical Zoom is one of the most innovative digital cameras on the market. According to Terry Sullivan of PC Mag:
“..It’s an ultra compact. It’s a super zoom. It’s even wireless. Is this some kind of Orwellian digital camera triple speak? No, it’s Kodak being (mostly) truthful in introducing its new 6-mega-pixel dual-lens camera, the EasyShare V610
($449.95 list). I love the idea of the V610, but the pictures I took didn’t blow me away, and the price is no bargain. In the end, the V610 is a good camera that has some unique features, but it falls short of being a great buy. “
But the price went down and we have it at the Syntagma ArtNYC store for $312.82. I know that if I had that camera with me at the Magician’s Pub on Friday night I could have gotten a great shot of Jason Calacanis’s party and I would have posted the photos here.
If you want to spend a little more money and framing a picture in the camera’s LCD is important to you – the Olympus Evolt E330 7.5MP Digital SLR Camera with 14-45mm f3.5/5.6 Zuiko Digital Zoom Lens  is a must have. Here’s part of PCMag review of the Olympus Evolt E330 7.5MP Digital SLR Camera:
“…This camera made one of the biggest splashes at this year’s PMA show in Orlando, Florida, was undoubtedly the Olympus Evolt E-330 (
$1,100 List). And for good reason: It’s the first D-SLR to give consumers the option of framing their shots on the LCD, a feature that’s been available on lower-end digital cameras for years. That’s not the sole reason we awarded the Evolt E-330 an Editors’ Choice as a specialty D-SLR, but it certainly tipped the scales. “
You know what? The Olympus Evolt E330 only costs $849.99 in the Syntagma ArtNewYorkCity Store.
But what if the Jason Calacanis’s party was a scuba party instead of taking place at the Magician’s Pub?   If that were the case , you’d want the Olympus Stylus 720SW 7.1MP Ultra Slim Digital Camera with 3x Optical Zoom (Silver) to you could take pictures up to 10 feet underwater. It’s selling at the ArtNYC Amazon store for $291.94, which is 500 dollars less than what it sold for, $749.25 .when it was first released.
So…. had I had one of these three cameras I could have had perfect shots of the Calacanis’s party.
