I went over to Governor’s Island today for a couple of Art Festivals that are going on now including FIGMENT08, which turned out to be a mixed bag - it was crowded and hot - but I’m not sorry I went - I was looking for footage, and got some, a lot - I tried to put the best of it in this movie (below):
It seems to me Governor’s Island could have had a lot more done with it than being a way station - I walked around the area of the island that’s open to visitors and found that I wished I came there at another time, perhaps later in the day - when it wasn’t so crowded.
After I got off the island (I was glad to go) I went and had dinner in the Financial District, and it poured quite a lot - I sketched a little, as I watched the rain attack the buildings while eating strawberries and cream, sipping my wine, drinking cappuccino - I was just glad to be inside and not trying to walk anywhere.
Tired. In fact, the reason I went to Governor’s Island was recreational, and to take footage to put up here - but I wish I went to Metropolitan or Brooklyn Museum, instead.
View the online video I put up and see what you think - was it worth going?
I visited AD HOC ART Gallery in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn today to see what it’s like and to film it for friend Amy Crehore who’ll at the opening on July 25th, where she’ll have several works in the opening - 5 Identities 5 Destinations, with Jenn Porreca, Amy Crehore, Molly Crabapple, Ewelina Ferruso and Lizz Lopez.
