At The Barnes Foundation – 2

I made a video of my approach to The Barnes Foundation yesterday and leaving it – I visited with my painter and vision social worker therapist friend, Janice.

One of the things I forgot to say (havent’ actually seen the video yet – I just put all my footage together – about 6 or 7 minutes) is there will be a Cezanne and Beyond exhibition in Philadelphia between next February and May 2009, and I will go to it – noticed its not free (you have to buy tickets and it cost 24 dollars – but it is worth it – I’ll be going at least once).

The Large Bathers

The Large Bathers, 1906
Paul Cézanne, French
Oil on canvas
82 7/8 x 98 3/4 inches (210.5 x 250.8 cm)
Purchased with the W. P. Wilstach Fund, 1937
W1937-1-1

Just thinking about it, it’s amazing how much of Cezanne’s major late work is located in the Philadelphia area.  It’s more meaningful to me to see the large Bathers now that I was at Cezanne’s studio last year in Aix – and saw the slit in the wall that was made just for the large Bather paintings to be moved out of the studio – here’s the video I made there in case anyone missed it.
