SVA Mentors Photography Exhibition
Dropped by Visual Arts Gallery tonight for a quick look at the Mentors exhibition -
“…School of Visual Arts (SVA) presents “Mentors,†an exhibition of works by 71 graduating BFA Photography Department students inspired by their year-long mentorship with leaders in the visual arts. Drawn from the ranks of New York City’s best-known photographers, curators, art directors, publishers, art dealers, critics and writers, SVA’s mentors are carefully paired with students based upon their area of expertise and the student’s concentration. The 2006 – 2007 mentors include New York Times Senior Pictures Editor Philip Gefter, Artforum Editor in Chief Tim Griffin, gallerist Yossi Milo, fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi, and photographers Tina Barney and Robert Polidori. “
Pretty crowded … went more as a brake from work and to take a long walk over to 11th Avenue then the photography. The Gallery was very crowded… a couple thousand people were circulating in and out of each room.
I liked the outdoor view better - I could see the Hudson and most of lower Manhattan from the 15th floor large terrace.
Also got Dodgeball installed for my handheld – turns out to be really easy to do from a Google Account – Dodgeball allows me to connect in to the Social Network of Art friends I run into, from time to time, in Manhattan; this way it will be much easier to do that whenever I want.
