Marissa Levy at Rockwood Music Hall - July 20th, 2008

I attended Marissa Levy’s concert tonight at Rockwood Music Hall in Soho and the acustics were so good and her singing was so good, I decided to take out my Flip Video Camera and capture many of the songs she sang (I came in almost half way through her performance but got a good part of it here - enjoy).

New York Art and Cezanne’s Jug

Writing about New York Art  and the New York Art Scene has it’s rewards - and one of them is communicating with some of my more engaged readers; one of them lives in Thailand and is fascinated with a old Jug that appeared in one of Paul Cezanne’s early paintings that the Metropolitan owns.

Well, I tried to find that painting in the most famous New York Art Museum and get a photo of Cezanne’s Jug last week in a painting called “The Fishermen”, but I had no luck; the painting is not on display and I don’t know when it will be again.

“…The Fishermen (Fantastic Scene), ca. 1875
Paul Cézanne (French, 1839–1906)
Oil on canvas; 21 3/4 x 32 1/4 in. (55.2 x 81.9 cm)
Gift of Heather Daniels and Katharine Whild, Promised Gift of Katharine Whild, and Purchase, The Annenberg Foundation Gift, Gift of Joanne Toor Cummings, by exchange, Wolfe Fund, and Ellen Lichtenstein and Joanne Toor Cummings Bequests, Mr. and Mrs. Richard J. Bernhard Gift, Gift of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Rodgers, and Wolfe Fund, by exchange, and funds from various donors, 2001 (2001.473)

The Fishermen by Cezanne.

But it brings up to me how wonderful it is to be in communication with Artists from all over the world -not just the New York Art community  in this case, someone found me, knew I live in New York and I love Art (my blog is, after all, about New York Art).
